MANILA, Philippines – Six drug suspects were killed in an alleged shootout during a buy-bust operation at Brgy. Nagkaisang Nayon in Novaliches, Quezon City on Wednesday night.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Senior Superintendent Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar identified the suspects as Jose Francisco Ledesma, alias “Patet,” 49; Ronaldo Ceron alias “Nano,” 46; Ronnie Bardon, 27; Jonathan Abe alias “Otik,” 36; Letecia Paclon; and Golber Almero, 37; all residents of Pasacola St. in Brgy. Nagkaisang Nayon.
Prior to the shootout, anti-illegal drug operatives of Novaliches police station received information that Ledesma, Ceron, and Abe, who voluntarily surrendered in “Oplan Kapak” last July, continued to engage in the illegal drugs trade.
The three suspects allegedly used Ledesma’s residence as a drug den.
Police then set up a buy-bust operation with Ledesma agreeing to meet a police poseur buyer outside his house at around 7:45 p.m.
During the drug deal, Ledesma and Ceron sensed that they were transacting with an undercover police.
Immediately, Ceron fired at the cop but missed.
While the two ran back into Ledesma’s residence, their cohorts inside the house started firing at the operatives.
A shootout ensued, wounding the suspects, who were rushed to the Novaliches District Hospital, but were pronounced dead on arrival.
Recovered at the scene were two .45 caliber pistols, three .38 caliber revolvers, 20 fired shells, three fired slugs, four plastic sachets of shabu, a weighing scale, four disposable lighters, 8 aluminum foil strips with suspected residue of shabu, and buy-bust money worth P1,000.
Eleazar said Ledesma, Ceron, and Abe were in the drug watch list of Novaliches police station.
Meanwhile, two suspected drug pushers were shot dead after they allegedly engaged police officers in a shootout during a buy-bust operation at Brgy. Holy Spirit in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.
One of the suspects was known only as alias “Moy-Moy,” while the other male suspect remains unidentified.
Anti-illegal drug operatives of Batasan police station conducted the buy-bust operation at Navarro compound in O’Donnel St., Brgy. Holy Spirit at about 12:30 a.m. after receiving a tip that the suspects used their house as a drug den.
During the operation, a police poseur buyer pretended to buy a P13,000 worth of shabu.
But while the drug deal was being done, the suspects sensed the presence of other police officers.
The suspects drew their guns and immediately fired at the cops, resulting to a gun battle.
The wounded suspects were rushed to East Avenue Medical Center, but were declared dead on arrival.
Seized from the suspects were five small plastic sachets of shabu, a medium sized plastic sachet of shabu, various drug paraphernalia, two caliber .45 pistols, and P13,000 buy-bust money. – RBA
