MANILA, Philippines – The biggest Catholic charismatic renewal group in the country is supporting Vice President Jejomar Binay for president and Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for vice president this coming elections.
The announcement was made over the radio station of El Shaddai DWXI on Friday.
The anchors said the endorsement was a result of an internal survey among members.
For vice president, No. 4 si Bongbong Marcos,” they added.
For senators, the El Shaddai is endorsing the following candidates: Rafael Alunan, Leila de Lima, Sherwin Gatchalian, Teofisto Guingona III, Ralph Recto, Manny Pacquiao, Francis Pangilinan, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Martin Romualdez, Roman Romulo, Francis Tolentino, and Joel Villanueva.
The anchors said the congregation’s choice was supported by El Shaddai leader Bro. Mike Velarde.
But they said Velarde is not forcing the members to vote on those chosen.
Hindi ibinaba ngunit ibinigay,” they added.
Binay expressed his gratitude to the members of El Shaddai for supporting him.
“I am grateful and humbled by the endorsement of the members of El Shaddai and to Bro. Mike Velarde for giving me the opportunity to speak before his congregation,” he said.
If he wins, Binay vowed to be a president, who “recognizes, respects and follows the word of God.”
The El Shaddai has reportedly more than three million members worldwide. – RBA
