MANILA, Philippines – Police arrested a South Korean national for possession of illegal drugs in Quezon City early Sunday.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Superintendent Edgardo Tinio identified the suspect as Jzon Taek Sang, 45, a native-born South Korean national and currently residing in Visayas Avenue, Quezon City.
Tinio said the anti-illegal drugs operatives of QCPD Station 6 were conducting surveillance operations at about 5 a.m. when they saw the suspect holding a syringe and showing it to another person in front of a house along 2nd Sto. Domingo St. in Brgy. Holy Spirit.
When an operative approached them, he said the man to whom the Korean was talking, immediately ran away.
However, he said police still managed to arrest Sang.
Tinio said police conducted surveillance operations after receiving tips from concerned citizens about drug peddlers and users in the area.
He said five other syringes containing liquid substance were also seized from the suspect.
After chemical analysis, the QCPD crime laboratory found the liquid positive for the presence of “methamphetamine hydrochloride” or shabu.
Tinio said a case of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect and the Korean embassy will be informed about it. – AIB
