MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Jejomar Binay on Wednesday said Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s flip-flopping remarks were part of the mayor’s “psychological disorder.”
“So batay sa mga pangyayari ngayon, ‘yong mga tanggi rito, tanggi riyan, pag-amin ng pagpatay, pag-amin ng pag-ano sa babaeng namatay na ginahasa, talagang… it only confirms na may psychological disorder ‘tong si berdugo (Duterte),” he said.
Binay issued the statement following a news report that said Duterte has “narcissistic personality disorder” or “extreme self-conceit.”
The report also said the tough-talking mayor has a “pervasive tendency to demean, humiliate others and violate their rights and feelings” and “difficulty controlling his urges and emotions.”
The report cited as source the assessment results of Duterte’s psychological tests that were used as basis for the annulment of his marriage to first wife Elizabeth Zimmerman in 2000.
The issue involving Duterte’s “psychological disorder” came out following his rape comment that earned the ire of different groups.
Binay believed that it was “high time” that a presidential candidate be subjected to medical exams, including psychological tests.
“I think it’s high time… Iyong psychological is medical case na rin ‘yon. Siguro tama naman ‘yon,” Binay said.
“Kasi biruin mo naman, hindi mo nire-reveal na may sakit ka. Sayang naman ‘yong botong binigay sa’yo na dapat ibibigay niya sa iba kung hindi ka naman makakatapos ng term mo,” he added. – AIB
