MANILA, Philippines – The Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office has a new chief with the designation of second Assistant City Prosecutor Dindo Venturanza as the officer-in-charge (OIC).
Venturanza, whose appointment took effect yesterday (February 29), has replaced City Prosecutor Donald Lee, who is reportedly to be assigned at the Department of Justice (DOJ).
A source from the city prosecutor’s office said Lee’s designation at the DOJ was still unknown at press time.
The appointment of Venturanza was based on the DOJ’s Department Order No. 105 dated February 24, 2016 signed by Justice Secretary Emmanuel Paras.
“Pursuant to the said designation, Prosecutor Venturanza shall be vested with all the powers, duties, functions and benefits of the city prosecutor of Quezon City,” as stated in the order.
When asked on the reasons why Lee was replaced, several employees from the city prosecutor’s office said they have no knowledge about the issue and admitted to have caught by surprise.
Meanwhile, city administrator Aldrin Cuna said Mayor Herbert Bautista already welcomed Venturanza yesterday afternoon.
